What will you achieve from this course?
Our Certificate IV in Bookkeeping is designed to develop the skills required for the role of a Bookkeeper and it is set to become the minimum formal educational requirement for BAS (Business Activity Statement) Agents. ALTEC is an Accredited Training Provider of ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) which is the largest Bookkeeping Institute in the world; a fact that will give you further assurance of the quality of training you will receive at ALTEC.

Course Description
This course equips students to perform the tasks pertaining to the role of a Bookkeeper which include:

- working with computerised accounting systems
- completing BAS and other financial statements
- developing bookkeeping management systems
- general administration 

Language Literacy and Numeracy
Students require language, literacy and numeracy capacity equivalent to the descriptions below:

Reading
Read and interpret texts that have several ideas which are non-routine, but simple. For example read workplace newsletters or read an agenda for a meeting

Writing
Produce and sequence several paragraphs to make meaning. For example fill in an accident report form or write a set of procedures for a new work task for personal reference

Maths
Use operations and % and fractions to solve problems

For example calculate and compare costs of similar items/services from two sources or measure items for work tasks using formal units (millilitres. of milk, grams of flour etc)

Career Opportunities
Upon successful completion students can gain entry into positions such as Bookkeeper, BAS Agent and Payroll Officer. It opens the pathway to become a contract Bookkeeper which is a rewarding self-employment opportunity as most small to medium sized businesses require the services of a bookkeeper as they don't possess these skills themselves.

Course Length and Fee
This course can be completed in one semester which comprises of 4 terms of 10 weeks each.
Total duration: 52 weeks including term breaks and holidays
Enrolment fee:  $250 (non-refundable)
Course fee:  $6,000  (VET Fee-help available to eligible applicants)

Education Pathways
On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to enrol into our Diploma of Accounting.

Entry Requirements
Successful completion of year 12 or equivalent. English level of IELTS 5.5 or greater for international students. At least 18 years of age at the commencement of course.
